The Rwandan Ambassador to Uganda, Col Joseph Rutabana, stated that the International Community continues to turn a blind eye to what is happening in the Democratic Republic of Congo, even as it becomes clear that a sinister plan is being prepared to exterminate Congolese citizens of Tutsi origin.

'The phrase 'Never Again' should not be taken lightly, especially by the international community. We say it over and over again, but if you look at what's happening in our neighboring country, the DRC, you'll see that Congolese Tutsi have been persecuted for days now, and it's clear that there's even a plan to exterminate them,' he said.

He added that the diplomats who joined Rwanda in commemorating the Genocide against the Tutsi must understand that the killings of Tutsi in the DRC, carried out by some of the same individuals who participated in the 1994 Genocide, are not to be taken lightly.

'These diplomats see what's happening. We keep saying 'Never Again,' yet they witness the same perpetrators committing similar crimes right next door in a neighboring country. This should not be acceptable. And any other country still harboring such genocidal ideology should receive this message clearly,' he stated.

Rutabana noted that when such messages are delivered to diplomats, they carry them back to the countries they represent, helping to expose the truth about the hatred being directed at Congolese Tutsi.

Ggolo Memorial Site serves as the final resting place for 4,771 genocide victims whose bodies were carried into Uganda via rivers like Nyabarongo and Kagera, eventually reaching Lake Victoria.

The Ugandan government and local communities provided dignified burials for these victims, establishing Ggolo as one of three genocide memorial sites in Uganda, alongside Lambu in Masaka District and Kasensero in Rakai District.
