These trees, donated by Bralirwa, were planted on Hill Nengo near the Sebeya River and on farms belonging to residents of Gisenyi Sector on November 9, 2024, with the aim of environmental conservation.
Overall, this initiative, launched by Rubavu District Mayor Prosper Mulindwa, was attended by local residents, including representatives from various government institutions.
Bralirwa's Managing Director, Etienne Saada, explained that this is one of many activities by the company to protect the environment and contribute to a better planet.
'As a company, we are committed to environmental conservation. Today's activity is one of many steps we are taking to create a better living environment, one that we will live for future generations,' he said.
Mayor Mulindwa expressed his gratitude to Bralirwa for its continued contribution to environmental conservation in Rubavu District, urging Gisenyi Sector residents to care for the newly planted trees.
'Our district is proud of the ongoing partnership with Bralirwa and our shared commitment to enhancing the welfare of residents, the environment, and the economy of this area,' he said.
Each year, Bralirwa plants 20,000 trees across the country. After planting 5,000 trees in Rubavu, the company plans to plant another 15,000 trees in Nyarugenge, Kicukiro, and Rwamagana districts within the remaining two months of 2024.
